From 1 October 2026 the Reserve Bank of Australia is removing card payment surcharges on networks such as eftpos, Mastercard and Visa1, so a surcharge can no longer be added when a guest pays by card, debit or credit. For most operators, there’s nothing to do. What the Reserve Bank has changed From 1 October 2026, Australian businesses can no longer surcharge debit, prepaid and credit card payments on networks such as eftpos, Mastercard and Visa1. The Reserve Bank has published the details of the change if you want to find out more. What Rezdy does for you on 1 October The Credit Card Surcharge field under Settings > Payments > Accept Credit Card Payments will automatically switch to ‘No’ and lock there from 1 October. From that point your guests stop seeing a card payment surcharge at checkout. You do not need to do anything for that part. Two things worth checking The automatic switch covers the account-level field. Two things sit outside it. 1. A surcharge set up as a product tax or fee. Some accounts added a card payment surcharge as a tax or fee on individual products rather than as the account setting. That will not switch off on its own, so remove or rename it under each product’s tax and fee settings. Only a small number of accounts do this. 2. Bookings sent through the API. If you or a tech partner push bookings into Rezdy through the API, the surcharge field needs to come out of those bookings from 1 October. If you are not sure whether this applies to you, send this to whoever looks after your integration. Where to get help If you are not sure how any of this applies to your account, write to support@rezdy.com and we will go through it with you. Take payments where the booking lives Rezdy keeps availability, orders and payments in one system, so a paid booking closes the seat and the money follows the order without a second login.
